Hemp Martingale Collars
Eco-friendly products have been all the rage for years now and that trend seems to be going as strong as ever.
Now we have “green” versions of everything from mops to cars and even green musical instruments. It almost seems like it’s all hype. You may, like I did, question how it is going to make a difference if you buy an eco-friendly product over a cheaper or equally priced normal product. When I started to notice EVERYTHING was becoming biodegradable and better for the environment, I realized just how big an impact it could have on the ozone, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places we live.
When something decomposes, it is gone, it has become a part of the earth. When something is made of chemicals and plastics and doesn’t decompose for hundred and hundreds of years, it sit around with piles of other chemicals and plastics in big mounds with no
where to go, cluttering the landscape, polluting the air and water and taking up space.
At first I was reluctant to purchase earth friendly goods, if for no other reason, it just seemed pointless. But now that I see I can make a difference, I try to buy green products whenever available.
Prior to the 1900’s, there was a wonder plant in the US called hemp. It was used to make a wide variety of products from rope to birdseed. It was grown in abundance and was and still is very cheap. Once the US made it illegal to grow
hemp, manufacturers were forced to look to other sources for materials and started to develop their own chemically made materials including plastics. Along came such materials as rayon, polyester, and nylon.
Within the last 10 years, there has been a great boost in importation of hemp products to the USA. Dog collars among the many many products that are being made of hemp. The main advantage of a hemp dog collar isn’t realized until after you throw it away. Compared
to a nylon collar, a hemp collar will be long gone while a nylon dog collar is just sitting there in a landfill with a bunch of other plastics and junk.
Hemp dog collars come in endless sizes, styles, and variations, including of course, the Martingale type of dog collar. Hemp is very easy to color and weave in designs as well making it very easy to make custom designs in the weave.
This is great for getting personalized collars specifically made for your dog.

What a good idea. I’m all for natural products and a hemp collar sounds like a super gift for my German Shepard, Ozzy…
